Dear @KarenHandel, If #Komen is not about politics, please define “pro-abortion” - http://yfrog.com/z/kkzyuyp #standwithPP
I hope everyone who’s jumping up & down, joyfully, over The Susan G. Komen Foundation’s decision to stop funding free breast cancer screenings never falls on hard times, goes poor & has to deal with breast cancer. That’d be like the worst karma ever, right? The attack against the weakest members of our society is escalating to an all out war.
So with this new “rule” and action are the folks at The Komen Foundation saying in part “we want to cure cancer and care for women. However, women who can’t afford regular screenings will probably die. Sorry.” They’d never miss the future funding of $600,000. I’m sure Susan Komen, who died from breast cancer, is rolling over in her grave over this clearly political move.
Also, spare me your same tired and old rhetoric. I’m not interested. For years, I’ve done what I thought was the right thing by walking and raising money for Komen. All I ever wanted was to help. Cancer does not care about religion, political party or what color you are. As my friend Donna says “Cancer is a bi-partisan issue”
Urge your representative to investigate Komen’s high administrative costs and low funding of research. Why? Under this new rule, if someone begins an investigation of the Komen Foundation, then the foundation should have to stop accepting donations as long as the investigation is continuing. Only 24% of the millions they raise is budgeted toward actual research. After last year, I was having doubts. Well, thanks to Karen Handel the air is clear.
I won’t be doing anything Komen related anymore. All my time and energy will be spent on local organizations. In the meantime, you can make donations to Planned Parenthood in honor of Karen Handel, at https://secure.ppaction.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=pp_ppol_Nondirected_HonoraryGiving, and she’ll get a postcard acknowledging your thoughtfulness on her behalf.

I’m not saying I’m right. What Komen did, however, was wrong.
The researchers found that the reduction in prostate cancer risk linked to coffee consumption was most pronounced for lethal cancers: men who drank at least six cups a day were 60% less likely to develop deadly cancer, compared with men who drank none. Those who drank one to three cups a day had a 30% lower risk of lethal cancer.
